Scan Card
Swipe the card to verify identity and maintain ship security protocols.
The Scan Card is a fundamental maintenance task found across various locations on the Skeld and other crewed vessels within the Among Us universe. It represents a routine security protocol where Crewmates must verify their identity to access restricted areas or complete daily system checks. For the Impostor, this task serves as a critical camouflage tool; by mimicking the action of scanning, they can create an alibi that places them in a specific location at a specific time, potentially misleading others during emergency meetings.

Lore & Background
The psychological impact of this task cannot be overstated during an emergency. Because the Scan Card is often located in high-traffic or secluded areas depending on the map layout, it becomes a focal point for suspicion. If a Crewmate claims they were scanning their card when a body was reported nearby, their story can either clear them or incriminate them based on the timing of the swipe. The Impostor exploits this by performing the animation without actually interacting with the system's security database, creating a visual decoy that fools observers into thinking they are busy working.
In Their Own Story
The fluorescent lights of Electrical hummed with a low, oppressive buzz as Crewmate Blue approached the terminal. Their heart hammered against their ribs; the air smelled faintly of ozone and recycled dust. With trembling hands, they pulled out their identification card, the plastic cool and familiar. They swiped it firmly across the reader. A soft green chime echoed through the corridor, followed by a satisfying click as the door to the server room unlocked just enough for them to peek inside. For a brief second, Blue felt safe, verified, part of the system. Then, the emergency alarm blared, shattering the illusion of order.
Reader's Guide
To complete the Scan Card task, first locate the designated terminal, which is usually marked by a glowing card reader icon on the floor or wall.
Approach the terminal and press the interaction button to initiate the sequence. Your character will animate as if holding up an ID card.
Wait for the progress bar to fill completely; do not interrupt the animation, or the task will reset.
Once the bar reaches 100%, a confirmation sound will play, and the task will be marked as complete on your local list.
